The mullet of musical ensembles
Business in the front, and party in the back.
We’re part community orchestra, and part social club. Part Social Symphony, and part Drunk Orchestra.
Our double identity is what makes us unique. We balance being both committed and lighthearted in our musical endeavors. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re here to make noise together. Sometimes it sounds pretty good!
We make orchestral music accessible for musicians
The music we play is something we can be proud of while still being easy enough to only casually practice. Our music tends to be at around a high school level and we don’t require auditions to join the group.
We make orchestral music accessible for listeners
Our concerts are always free to attend! (Of course, donations are always welcome!) We are a 501(c)(3) and donations are tax-deductible. EIN: 84-2551465
Music is how we connect with our community. (And a few drinks don’t hurt either!)
Our story
In 2018, a group of friends decided they wanted to play music together with drinks nearby. They made a Reddit post about forming a Drunk Orchestra and got an overwhelmingly positive response!
In 2019 the Social Symphony of Kansas City achieved nonprofit status!
By 2021, our orchestra was big enough to outgrow our usual brewery venues, and we started looking for larger spaces to perform in. Since then, we’ve been performing in larger and larger venues with increasing support from the community.
